We are seeking a whip-smart, proactive and ambitious team player with exceptional people skills, creative nous, and entrepreneurial flair to join The Hot Breakfast team as our Marketing & Events Manager. The role is initially available on a consultancy basis, with a view to offering full employment once both sides are happy with the arrangement.
Ideally, the applicant will have an excellent track record in strengthening online/offline communities and relationships; designing and delivering valuable events; and developing ideas and projects independently.

About The Hot Breakfast
The Hot Breakfast is a hub that connects and supports inspiring Londoners. Its work revolves around the question of how we can nourish great ideas and people.
Established in 2014, The Hot Breakfast has attracted a loyal community of remarkable, talented members from all sorts of demographics and disciplines, who trust our unique gatherings to provide a crucible for opportunity, ideas and connectivity.
The focus of our offering is on early morning events – speaker-led “Feasts” & more loosely structured “Walks” – that turn the traditional networking and talks scene on its head. Every detail in the agenda is structured to enable our members to authentically connect, exchange ideas and create opportunities for each other. In addition, we offer a highly bespoke “À La Carte” service, in which members are individually matched to small groups for structured peer-to-peer mentoring sessions. We host two Parties each year and also provide marketing / editorial services designed to showcase members’ work using our platforms and brand.
The proposition is now well-advanced. Once it has been commercially validated, the intention is to create hyper-local hubs of The Hot Breakfast that operate semi-autonomously across the capital and beyond.
Your Role as marketing & Events Manager
The Hot Breakfast is growing quickly, and your role can be expected to evolve with it. You can do a lot to shape the business, if you are keen to do so. That said, we are looking for someone who can:
Take the lead in designing and implementing our marketing strategy that inspires both our members and our target market and is consistent with The Hot Breakfast's brand and values.
Develop content that is resonant with our objectives as a business and the purpose for which it was established. As part of this, you will have the opportunity to interview members, design campaigns and think creatively about building and measuring brand awareness;
Be a key contributor to the planning, organisation and delivery of a creative, impactful programme of events for our Feasts and Parties that delight our members and set a new bar when it comes to inspiring people and enabling them to connect, collaborate and innovate;
Establish excellent professional relationships with our members - both individually and through broader communication channels - that help us to provide them with exceptional service on an ongoing basis;
Help shape an offering that attracts more high calibre, purposeful individuals from across the demographic spectrum;
Develop strong working relationships with existing and new venues, explore collaborations with potential partners and liaise with the Hosts who lead our Walks;
Integrate metrics and digital technology into our services so as to provide valuable insights about our performance;
Act as an ambassador and face of The Hot Breakfast: help host our Feasts and Parties, attend related events, support our members’ work, model the attitude of friendly professionalism that we advocate and represent The Hot Breakfast at talks and presentations; and
Respond to the plethora of opportunities and challenges that face a small, fast-paced business that is out to do things differently! It’s vital that you’re happy to work as part of a close-knit team and to get stuck in to the full range of work (both administrative and strategic) that is part of the entrepreneurial experience.
What You Bring To The Table
Much like our members, we welcome applicants from the full spectrum of backgrounds and disciplines. What matters is that you:
Bring great credentials with you. You need to be able to relate to the members we work with and appreciate / anticipate their interests and needs. It’s likely that you’ll be educated to graduate level (as a minimum), but mindset and potential are more important than ticked boxes;
Excellent understanding of the theory behind marketing, combined with the practical skillsets to design and deliver campaigns on a budget
Have experience in designing, organising and delivering unusual, highly valuable events. We’re looking for critical and creative thinkers, who look at events and services with a discerning eye and are obsessive about how the details of an experience affect its success and outcome;
Relatedly, we need you to be highly organised, proactive, efficient and attentive to the minutiae of a customer’s experience and service. You could be described as a problem-solver and a safe pair of hands;
Are entrepreneurial in spirit. Among other things, this means that you balance a creative and commercial mindset, are happy to make up the rule book, and are sufficiently driven and conscientious to keep accountable to yourself and the business that we’re building;
Are an excellent communicator, great at establishing rapport and trust with people both in person and online; and

Location: Our Breakfasts are held in central London (usually around Soho, Mayfair and Clerkenwell) and you’ll need to be able to get there early in the morning. Outside the events, there’s freedom about where and how you work, other than roughly one day per week spent working with The HB team in Hackney/Soho.
Working hours: This is a full-time job but you’ll have a lot of freedom in determining how your hours are managed across the day.
Remuneration: Commensurate with experience.
